Oh, The Irony: Booker Accused of Sexual Assault By A Man

In a case of delicious irony to conservative, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), a staunch and vocal member of the #IBelieveHer chorus during the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, has been himself accused of sexual assault and misconduct by an anonymous man who posted a lengthy and detailed account on Twitter.

Booker, who also famously likened himself to "Spartacus" when he threatened to release privileged documents that the Judiciary Committee already cleared for disclosure, is accused of inappropriately and sexually touching a self-identified gay supporter in a restroom in the summer of 2014. A four-page posting by "Deep Throat" details the account in four pages he released on Twitter:

The tweet also reveal that the accuser has consulted with Republican attorney Harmeet Dhillon and even reported his allegations to The New Yorker's Ronan Farrow, who apparently declined to pick up this story.

Throughout the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, Booker was a strong supporter of the #IBelieveHer wing of the Senate Judiciary Committee after Judge Brett Kavanaugh was accused of sexual misconduct as a teenager by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. He even went so far as to advocate for dispensing with the presumption of innocence and burdens of proving allegations and called on President Trump to withdraw the Kavanaugh nomination. When it came time to vote, Booker was a loud "no", stepping up for his turn at bat to exalt Kavanaugh's accuser: 

"She shared a raw and visceral, incredible and profoundly powerful testimony with not just this committee but the world," said Booker, a potential 2020 Democratic candidate for president. "And she was believable. I believe her."

This isn't the first time Sen. Booker has been linked to sexual misconduct. In a 1992 article written by Booker himself, he admits a time where he groped a female, reaching for her breast, and when she swatted his hand away, he made another attempt.  

Western Journalism also reminds us that Sen. Booker called the Kavanaugh allegations:

“There is so much at stake here — this has nothing to do with politics. This has to do with who we are as moral leaders” and that “in a moral moment, there is no neutral.”

To say that we await Sen. Booker's reaction to these latest allegations against him is an understatement - and, reportedly, so is the anonymous accuser:

The reported victim also said watching Booker’s defense of alleged sexual assault victims was “laughably ironic, jarringly cringe-worthy, and triggering” leading him to speak out. 

It will be very interesting to see if Sen. Booker, and his Democratic colleagues, maintain their much-stated position that alleged victims of sexual assault are to be believed without question, or whether he suddenly comes around to thinking that the accused deserve a fair hearing after evidence is laid bare on the record.
