With the blockbuster news regarding the special investigation of the Russian-collusion scandal, including the indictment of Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, and the news that a low-level policy volunteer George Papadopolous pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, Gene puts on his lawyer hat and breaks down the legalities, the political ramification and the social media fallout.
What is it that we find? A whole lot of nothing new.
We knew Manafort and his people were bad actors. We also knew his bad acts had nothing to do with the Trump campaign. The Russia/Ukraine contacts occurred in 2014. The alleged money laundering and lying occurred thereafter. And, the Trump family had the good sense to fire him early on.
Also, before this Papadopolous statement of offense and guilty plea, we knew from Donald Trump,Jr.'s emails that the Trump campaign explored meeting with Russian officials. Which, by the way, in and of itself is not illegal.
So why are heads all 'splode-y? Because no one... wait for it... judges slowly. Take a listen.
